Estates Officer Operations (Electrical)

Multi-Award winning, Keenan Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Estates Officer in Operations (Electrical) for a contract based in the Estates Department of the Lagan Valley Hospital, Lisburn to start as soon as possible. 

This role is full-time, 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 0830 - 1630, Hourly rate is £16.04 

Duties include:

  • Ensuring the commissioning of buildings and engineering services is carried out as per agreed protocols and in accordance with relevant Statutory Standards, Codes of Practice, Health & Safety Guidance, Health Technical Memoranda and Building Notes.
  • Review and update engineering policies and procedures that support the provision of an efficient maintenance and operations service.
  • Provide maintenance services utilising both in-house and external contractors throughout a sector of the Trust.
  • Contributes to compiling a comprehensive engineering plan, constantly reviewing and implementing the plan and ensuring the effectiveness of this element of service delivery meets the needs of the service.
  • Liaise with other Professional and Technical staff to develop an asset base that can be used as the basis to develop a service that embraces all aspects of building, engineering and equipment maintenance.
  • Contributes to ensuring standards are developed and maintained that meet user needs and effectively link to standards within Controls Assurance Criteria.
  • Participating as an Authorised Person as defined within Health Technical Memoranda for a range of mechanical and electrical engineering services.
  • Ensuring the building fabric, engineering and utility services are maintained to standards that are in keeping with high quality patient/client care services and reflect the risk associated with the impact a failure would have on the quality of care provided by the Trust.
  • Effectively manage the maintenance of specialist plant and equipment that is core to the running of the estate and includes boiler plant, laundry plant and decontamination equipment etc.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of engineering surveys, testing and independent validation of plant equipment or services that are required to comply with relevant statutory requirements.
  • Take managerial responsibility for other areas of estates officer’s workload to cover for holidays, sickness, study leave and absence

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

You will need:

  • A degree in a relevant Engineering related subject together with 3 years’ relevant experience OR
  • a HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering related subject together with 5 years’ relevant experience OR
  • be due to complete year 2 of the HSC Estates Graduate Training Scheme
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car

You will need to demonstrate experience of:

  • Managing engineering systems and up-to-date methods of maintenance planning
  • Leading a team of maintenance and operational staff associated with engineering project design and management
  • Preparing maintenance estimates and engineering reports
