Senior Associate - Internal Auditor

Keenan Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, for a Senior Associate within their Internal Audit team.

Company

Our client is a leading advisory, tax, accounts and audit practice within Northern Ireland, working with a diverse and progressive client portfolio. They are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, client focussed and ambitious person to work with the Director and Audit Partner to help deliver and further develop their growing internal audit function.

The Role

This varied and exciting role will involve working with a range of clients in the public sector, delivering and developing our internal service.

Tasks and Responsibilities include

Delivering an internal audit service

  • Prepare strategic internal audit plans.
  • Liaise with clients to schedule internal audit engagements.
  • Draft terms of reference for individual engagements.
  • Oversee and carry out internal audit fieldwork.
  • Discuss and agree findings with clients.
  • Draft internal audit reports for review by the Director.
  • Where appropriate, attend Audit Committee meetings.

Developing the internal audit service

  • Supervise, train, and develop junior Internal Audit staff.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to develop for our internal audit service.
  • Draft tenders for potential internal audit engagements.

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to work independently, prioritise and work within set deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to effectively relay information.
  • Ambitious, insightful, and willing to learn.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Internal Auditor.
  • At least two years’ experience of carrying out internal audit work with clients in the public sector
  • Knowledge of risk based internal auditing and Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.

Salary will be negotiable and reflective of experience.
