Children's Disability Social Worker

I am currently recruiting for two full time Social Workers for Children's Disability Services.  The first post will be a community field work team based at Ward 25 of Downshire Hospital. The second post is based a Scarbo Children's Centre in Newtownards.  

JOB ROLE

You will work as part of a team to support and care for children with complex needs in their own homes working alongside other service providers. These are children with a permanent and substantial learning or physical disability and/or complex health care needs which have a substantial and long term adverse effect on his/her ability to engage in normal day-to-day activities with a consequent negative effect on family functioning.  Where children are receiving services through other teams e.g. Gateway, Family Intervention Team, Complex Health, Sensory or Autism services, the teams may also provide specialist support to those teams in relation to disability.  You will also support children with Acute or Highly Complex Needs, who are assessed as requiring safeguarding/accommodation/intensive family support or specialist treatment/therapeutic ether at home, specialist residential provision or in hospital.

Criteria:

• Social Work Degree
• Live on NISCC register
• You will be willing to complete an Enhanced Access NI check through Keenan in advance of start date. 
• Preference for children's services or disability experience - placement, paid or voluntary experience considered
