Lab Technician

We have a unique opportunity based at South West and Tyrone Hospital Enniskillen. Full time Mon – Fri 0900 – 1700. Salary £11.67ph.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Human Milk Bank Co ordinator the Milk Bank Technician will undertake the pasteurisation processes of donor breast milk. He/she will report to the Milk Bank Co ordinator and be accountable to the Lead Nurse.

 

The role will be focused on the preparation of donor milk for pooling, bottling and pasteurisation according to NICE guideline 93. In addition, they will prepare milk samples for transport to the laboratory for microbiology testing.

 

The post holder will be expected to be competent in use of essential equipment used for pasteurising and milk nutritional analysis in a controlled clean environment. They will maintain high standards of hygiene and safety and adhere to milk processing procedures.

 

CRITERIA

GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade A-C)

OR

NVQ level 2 

AND

1 years’ ICT experience
